Indicative aims and targeted actions of the Laboratory of Ancient Drama and Theatre Research (L.AN.D.THE.RE.) are:
- The cooperation with other Universities, Research Centres, scientific associations, both national and international, whose research and/or educational objectives coincide, are compatible and complementary with those of the Laboratory.
- Cooperation with national and local theatrical and cultural institutions, both national and international, whose artistic and cultural activities feed into the research and educational mission of the Laboratory.
- The organisation of scientific lectures, workshops, seminars, symposia, conferences, open courses, focusing on ancient drama and/or its reception in different spatio-temporal contexts and with different thematic focuses.
- The cooperation with universities, educational, cultural and artistic institutions in Greece and abroad and the invitation of Greek and foreign renowned scientists and artists for the implementation of joint actions focusing on ancient drama and its reception.
- The organisation and implementation of educational programmes, at different learning levels and contexts, aiming at the re-approach of ancient drama and the renewal of its teaching methods, through the study of the different ways of its activation in contemporary scenes.
- The identification, collection and digital recording of theatrical archival material, especially for Greek and international performances of ancient drama.
- The creation of archives of i) scientific papers at Greek and international level, ii) dissertations and doctoral theses conducted at the Department of Theatre Studies of the NKUA on ancient drama and/or its reception, iii) related material from other university institutions, with the aim, on the basis of the above, of creating thematic databases, disseminating information and supporting interested researchers and artists.
- The development of a strategy to support the publication of hitherto unpublished modern Greek translations of ancient drama.
- The development of a strategy to support the translation of foreign ancient-themed plays into Modern Greek.
- The development of a website for the presentation and dissemination of research and educational programmes carried out at the Laboratory and the strengthening of the Laboratory’s cooperation with related Laboratories and Research Centres in Greece and abroad.
- The provision of services to natural and legal persons in accordance with the provisions of Presidential Decree 159/1984 “Conditions for the provision of services by university laboratories to individuals and all types of organisations” (A΄ 53).
