RESEARCH FIELDS
- Historical and theoretical approaches to issues concerning ancient drama: origin, evolution, specific characteristics of the three ancient Greek theatrical genres, historical, socio-political, religious and institutional context of ancient theatre production, particular dramatic, scenic and semantic characteristics of the theatrical work of the dramatic poets of Greek and Roman antiquity.
- History and theory of the reception of ancient Greek drama from the mature classical period to the late classical, Hellenistic and Roman imperial periods.
- History and theory of the reception of ancient drama in modern and contemporary Greek and world theatre practice (theatre, opera, dance, pantomime, performance art, shadow theatre, etc.).
- History and theory of the reception of ancient drama by modern and contemporary, Greek and world playwrighting.
- History and theory of the reception of ancient drama by the other arts (architecture, sculpture, visual arts, literature, poetry, music, cinema, photography, comics).
- History and theory of the intralingual and interlingual translation of ancient drama.
- Issues of comparative theatre studies with regard to the reception of ancient drama in different spatio-temporal, cultural and artistic contexts.
- Documentation of Greek theatrical activity in terms of the (translation, publishing, theatrical, dramatic) use of ancient drama.
- Educational methodology aimed at enhancing the ways of teaching ancient drama through the study of the different ways of its reception by the Arts and, in particular, the different ways of its revival in contemporary theatrical settings.
