LABORATORY OF ANCIENT DRAMA AND THEATRE RESEARCH

PRACTICAL SEMINAR: BACCHAE AND LYSISTRATA - TRANSLATION REFLECTIONS

In the framework of the research project «Unpublished Translations of Ancient Drama: Detection – Collection – Recording –Evaluation» (PLUTOS 21), a practical seminar was held on the theatrological and theatrical use of extracts from Euripides' Bacchae and Aristophanes' Lysistrata, in different translation versions (published and unpublished).  The seminar ended with the presentation of two comprehensive 15-minute performances, in the context of the «Lost in Translation» Conference. The artistic organization and realization of the seminar was carried out by the director-translator and student of the Department of Theatre Studies Alexandrοs Cohen. The seminar was attended and animated by the students of the Department of Theatre Studies: Euphremia Anastasiou, Alexandra Vinci, Vicky Volioti, Vassilia Zisimopoulou, Dimitra Benisi, Konstantina Daratsianou, Antonis Kasimatis, Athena Michalopoulou, Dimitra Benisi, Mina Fardis and the student of the Department of Philosophy of E.K.P.A. George Bardis.
